Did you focus on one thing?

When you started out learning to make music did you try to focus on one thing at once, like making melodies?Or did you practice everything at once and tried to make a song from it all. For someone starting out would you recommend to focus on one thing or divide your practice and learn to make it fit together?

From what I can tell about s3rl's old music, it seems like he focused mainly on the melody rather than vocals. he had a ton of bass drops and kicks and whatnot but had very little vocals if any at all. his new music features many singers including himself. he likes to use voice changers and synthesizers like miku and others to add vocals to his tracks. so what you should gather from this is that you need to focus on the melody first. if you want to do what s3rl did
